Douglas William Bertling
Cascade, Iowa

Douglas William Bertling, 22, of 2641 University Ave. in Dubuque and formerly of Cascade, died Sunday afternoon about six miles west of Dubuque near Lattnerville, Iowa as the result of a hunting accident.

Services will be at 10:20 a.m. Thursday at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Till-Didesch Funeral Home here, where the Scripture Wake Service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Mr. Bertlin was born in Monticello, IA, and had been employed as a mechanic at Wilson Brothers Dodge in Dubuque. He was a member of St. Martin's Church, and was a Vietnam veteran having served one year in Germany and one year in Vietnam before his discharge.

Surviving are his parents, Harold N. and Evelyn (Hansen) Bertling of Cascade; three sisters, Mrs. Phyllis Dolphin and Mrs. Jay (Linda) Hingtgen, both of Des Moines, IA and Marilyn Bertling at home, and three brothers, Sgt. Harold N. Bertling, USAF, Malstrom Air Force Base, Great Falls, Mont., Gregory and Clifford, both at home.
