Melvin J. Schmitt

Services for Melvin J. Schmitt, 62, of 6550 Asbury Road will be at 10:20 a.m. Thursday at Resurrection Church. Entombment will be in Resurrection Garden Mausoleum, Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call until 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Behr Funeral Home, where the parish wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Mr. Schmitt died at 6 a.m. Monday at Peoples Memorial Hospital, Independence, Iowa. He was born at Cedar Ridge, Iowa, and farmed in Center Township. He was a former member of the Asbury Fire Department.

Surviving are his wife, the former Marion E. Breitbach; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Lou Timmons of Independence; two sons, Daniel J. of Traer, Iowa, and Dennis I. of Key West, Iowa; seven grandchildren; a sister Mrs. Del (Rita) Pillard of Key West, and two brothers, Vincent of Galena, Ill.,, and Albert of Dubuque.
