John Engler

John Engler, 78, of Sherrill, died suddenly Sunday morning while attending services at St. Peter and Paul church at Sherrill.

County Coroner Norbert F. Behr stated Monday that death was due to natural causes and no inquest will be held.

The body has been taken to the Behr funeral home. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Monday. The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home to St. Peter and Paul church. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Engler was born Oct 29, 1870 at Sherrill, the son of the late Jacob and Mary Engler, pioneers of the community. A carpenter by trade, he had lived nearly his entire life in Dubuque county.

He was a member of St. Peter and Paul church and the parish Holy Name society.

Survivors include one brother, George Engler, and several nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded death by six sisters and three brothers.
