Sister Michail Geary, BVM, 85, of Marian Hall, 1050 Carmel Drive, died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at Marian Hall.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Marian Hall Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel, where there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. The Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.
Sister Michail was a faculty member and administrator at Clarke College, Dubuque, for more than 30 years. She taught math and English, served as dean of women, director of financial aid, interim college president and secretary to the Clarke College Board of Trustees. Sister also served in the business, public relations and institutional advancement offices. She was secretary of the BVM congregation from 1968 to 1976, and earlier taught at Immaculate Conception Academy, Davenport, Iowa, and Mundelein College, Chicago.
She was born on Oct. 3, 1918, in Chicago, daughter of Michael and Margaret (Keeley) Geary.
She made her first profession of religious vows on March 19, 1942, and her final profession of religious vows on Aug. 15, 1947.
Surviving are two sisters, Catherine Geary, of Chicago, and Sister Ann Margaret Geary, BVM, of Dubuque; nieces and nephews; and the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, with whom she shared life for 63 years.
Memorials may be given to the Sisters of Charity, BVM Retirement Fund.
