Connie Swift, 53, of 2757 Ventura Drive, Apt. 3, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where friends may call after 9 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. The Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on Oct. 20, 1950, in Dubuque, daughter of Adrian and Bernice (Rellihan) Swift. She graduated from Wahlert High School, Clarke College and Genesis Institute, all in Dubuque.
She worked as a cosmetologist and waitress in Dubuque and Galena, Ill. She moved to Seattle in 1987, where she worked in catering and flower arranging. In 1997, she returned to Dubuque. She was a court appointed special advocate in Dubuque County.
Connie was very artistic and enjoyed gardening and cooking. She took great joy in her granddaughter.
Surviving are a daughter, Shani Rogers, of Columbus, Ohio; a granddaughter, Brittany Rogers; her mother, Bernice Swift, of Dubuque; four brothers, Terrence (Therese) Swift, of Fairview Park, Ohio, and Edward Swift, Thomas P. (Sharon) Swift and Gerald (Diane) Swift, all of Dubuque; three sisters, Nancy (James) Klauer and Susan (John) Miller, both of Dubuque, and Kathy Steffen, of Lynnwood, Wash.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Adrian, on Dec. 24, 1979.
A Connie Swift Memorial Fund has been established.
