Wayne Albert Braig, 99, of Luther Manor, formerly of 930 Kirkwood St., died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at Luther Manor.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Raphael's Cathedral, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. The Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Braig was treasurer of the original Roshek Bros. Co., and prior to his retirement, a vice president of American Trust and Savings Bank.

He was born on Oct. 28, 1904, in Danbury, Iowa, son of James and Anna (Burns) Braig. He lived in Dubuque most of his life. He married Mildred Nicks on Oct. 6, 1927; she preceded him in death on May 29, 1955.

He was active in the community, serving for many years as treasurer of the Dubuque School Board and St. Raphael's Parish Cathedral.

Wayne loved to tie flies, fish, canoe and camp. He also enjoyed his summer vacations in Canada with his friends, his children and his grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas (Trudy) Braig, of Albuquerque, N.M., and James (Karla) Braig, of Dubuque; two daughters, Betsy (Roger) Cerutti, of Madison, Wis., and Sarah Braig, BVM, of St. Louis; six grandchildren, David, Mark and Paul Cerutti and Christopher, Jennifer and Amy Braig; six great-grandchildren, Kristen and Mario Cerutti, Maria and Vivian Braig Steckline and Anna and Isaac Braig Lindstrom; a sister, Mary (Ralph) Pape, of Minnetonka, Minn.; and four nieces.

He also was preceded in death by his dear friend, Kathri Rhomberg Gehrig; and a sister, Ruth Braig, in childhood.

The family requests no flowers.

Thanks to everyone at Luther Manor for their care and concern for Wayne these last few years. Thanks also to Hospice of Dubuque for their compassion and support.
