Glen C. Grutz, 60, of 2708 Elm St., formerly of 785 Kaufmann Ave., died at 4 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at home.

Chapel services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Grutz was employed at John Deere Dubuque Works for 30 years, retiring in 1994.

He was born on Dec. 29, 1942, in Dubuque, son of Clarence "Barney" and Edna (Nelson) Grutz.

He was a 1961 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School, where he played varsity baseball.

He married his high school sweetheart, Patsy A. Nank, on April 20, 1963, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dubuque.

He was a member of the United Automobile Workers Local 94. He was a mediator for the Dubuque County District Court, and was an advocate for nursing home residents. He also was a volunteer for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. He sang karaoke at area nursing homes.

He enjoyed fishing, swimming and riding his bike.

Surviving are his former wife, Patsy A. Grutz, of Dubuque; three sons, Robert J. Grutz, Patrick A. (Cindy) Grutz and Christopher C. Grutz, all of Dubuque; four grandchildren, Shelbi Grutz and Randy, Danny and Gage Grutz; a sister, Thoma (John) Churchill, of Dubuque; a brother, James (Kate) Grutz, of Seattle; and nieces and nephews.
