Genevieve E. (Atchison) Meyer, 79, of Ennoble Manor Care Center, formerly of 1800 Manson Road, died at 12:45 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at the care center, surrounded by her loving family.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Mueller Memorial Chapel at Linwood Cemetery. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St.

Mrs. Meyer formerly worked as a dispatcher for the Yellow Cab Co. She later worked as a dispatcher for the city of Dubuque Police Department.

She was born on Feb. 29, 1924, in Dubuque, daughter of Fieldon and Christina (Haser) Atchison. She married Elmer E. Meyer on Feb. 28, 1952, in Clinton, Iowa; he preceded her in death on April 18, 1968.

Jenny loved the river, whether she was fishing or reading on the bank. She also was an avid card player. Jenny especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Surviving are two daughters, Pam R. (Jeff) Sisler, of East Dubuque, Ill., and Debra A. Elliott, of Lewiston, Idaho; four sons, Joe D. (Barb) Meyer, Robert E. Meyer, Gary E. Meyer and Donald A. (Kimberly) Meyer, all of Dubuque; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lucille Atchison, Kathleen Sullivan Grimme, Marie Lorenz and Susan (Charles) Lane, all of Dubuque; three brothers, Dave Atchison and Fieldon (Mary Jo) Atchison, both of Dubuque, and Dan (Eileen) Atchison, of East Dubuque; and nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Margo Atchison; and two brothers-in-law, James Sullivan and Clarence Grimme.

A Genevieve E. Meyer Memorial Fund has been established.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice of Dubuque and Ennoble Manor for their care and concern for Jenny.
