Dorothy P. Wortley, 90, of 313 Clarke Drive, died at 12:35 p.m., Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Raphael's Cathedral. Burial of the cremated remains will be Monday afternoon in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m., today at Egelhof, Siegert and Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where there will be the St. Raphael's Parish wake service at 4 p.m.

Mrs. Wortley was a self-employed paper hanger for 34 years. She also was a foster grandmother for many years.

She was born on March 16, 1913, in Dubuque, daughter of James and Pearl (Bradley) Jones. She married George Wortley, Sr. on Dec. 5, 1932, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on Sept. 9, 1973.

She was a resident of Dubuque all of her life. She was a member of St. Raphael's Parish.

Dorothy lived her life for her family. She will be missed by all, especially her dog, Sassy.

Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Edminister and Jean (Melvin) Key, both of Dubuque; three sons, George Wortley, Jr., John (Thelma) Wortley and Richard (Nancy) Wortley, all of Dubuque; 32 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a special brother-in-law, Russell Smith; a sister-in-law, Marcella Jones; and several nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Robert, William and James Wortley; a granddaughter, Connie Jo Tarleton; a sister, Mary Smith; five brothers, Stanton, William, Robert, John and Raymond Jones; a son-in-law, Robert P. Edminster; and a daughter-in-law, Elaine Wortley.
