Sister Oda Klein, 96, of Holy Family Hall, died at 7:19 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at the Holy Family Hall Infirmary.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Mount St. Francis Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7:30 p.m. today at the chapel, where there will be a wake service at 7:30 p.m. The Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.

Sister Oda taught in Iowa and Illinois. She also served as associate superior.

She was born on Aug. 1, 1907, in Alton, Iowa, daughter of Jacob and Cecilia (Goebel) Klein.

She entered the Sisters of St. Francis on Aug. 25, 1928, and made her final profession of religious vows on Aug. 10, 1934.

Surviving are three sisters, Sister Tresa and Agnes Klein and Mary Ann Penning; a sister-in-law, Luella Klein; and the Franciscan Sisters with whom she shared 74 years of her life.

She was preceded in death by her good parents; a sister, Ann (Edward) Penning; four brothers, Lawrence, Leo, Henry (Evelyn) and Nick; and a brother-in-law, Julius Penning.

Memorials may be given to the Sisters of Mount St. Francis.
