Mr. Victor J. Link, 87, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 16773 Muntz Court, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at the care center.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Dennis Kitchen Funeral Home, 3860 Asbury Road, where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m.

Prior to 1955, Mr. Link farmed in Balltown, Dyersville and Sherrill, Iowa, and then worked as a manufacturing employee at John Deere Dubuque Works until his retirement in 1978.

He was born on Oct. 27, 1916, in Balltown, son of Frank and Mary (Loch) Link. He married Regina C. Koenig on Feb. 23, 1943, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Sherrill; she passed away on Oct. 17, 1995.

He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 94 prior to his retirement. He also was a member of the John Deere Retirees Association and Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening and he was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He was a caregiver to his wife in her later years and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are a son, Norbert (Phyllis) Link, of Dubuque; three sisters, Sylvia Schroeder, Dolores Brimeyer and Adele Metcalf, all of Dubuque; two grandsons, Anthony C. (Michelle) Link, of Naples, Fla., and Brian M. (Margaret) Link, of Centerville, Ohio; a great-granddaughter, Alexis Link, of Naples; and many nieces and nephews.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Gerald Link, in 1985.

A Victor J. Link Memorial Fund has been established by the family.
