Mrs. Louis P. (Florence M.) Larkin, 89, of 104 Sunset Park, 3730 Pennsylvania Ave., Dubuque, formerly of 221 St. Mary Street, Dubuque, died at 3:35 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Mueller Memorial Chapel at Linwood Cemetery, 2735 Windsor Ave., Dubuque. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street.

Mrs. Larkin worked for 14 years for the Dubuque Community School System as the kitchen manager.

She was born on Jan. 17, 1914, in North Andover, Wis., daughter of Joseph and Mabel (Ross) Ortschied. She married Leo Adams in 1940, in Dubuque; he preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 1963. She later married Louis P. Larkin on July 31, 1973, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Dubuque.

She was a faithful member of Faith United Methodist Church for more than 60 years. She was also a member of the Rebecca Lodge, the Eagles Auxiliary and the REAC Club.

Florence enjoyed playing cards and dancing. She and Louis also enjoyed traveling.

Since per parents died when she was quite young, Florence was raised by her Grandma Marion Ross.

Surviving are her husband, Louis P. Larkin; three daughters, Carol R. (John) Marcus, of Zwingle, Gail J. Adams, of Burlington and Nancy J. Sweeney, of Humble, Texas; a son Calvin R. (Gerry) Adams, of Escondido, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to the Fraternal Order Eagles Auxiliary, 1175 Century Drive, Dubuque, Iowa 52002.
