William E. Ennis, 65, of 1313 Rhomberg Ave., died at 12:35 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center- Dubuque

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Farley, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, where there will be a parish wake service at 4:30 p.m.

Mr. Ennis was formerly employed as a truck driver for Miller Trucking and later for Ruan Trucking until he had to retire for medical reasons.

He was born on Dec. 20, 1937, in Dubuque, son of Lawrence and Rosella (Henry) Ennis.

Bill enjoyed horseback riding, fishing and watching Western movies. He also collected horses. Bill enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Surviving are two daughters, Rosemary Troy, of Epworth, Iowa, and Bridget J. Ennis, of Ridott, Ill.; two sons, Ricky M. Ennis (fiancee, Jacquelyn Priewe), of Dubuque, and Richard D. (Michelle) Ennis, of Bernard, Iowa; 12 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; special friend, Olympia Tanamore, of Dubuque; four sisters, Rosemary (Merlin) Hohmann, of Dubuque, Darlene Dossey (Rick Becker), of Peosta, Judy (Dick) Thurm, of Epworth, and Jean Ennis, of Dallas; two brothers, Dick (Margy) Ennis, of East Dubuque, Ill., and David (Annette) Ennis, of Asbury, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Ennis, in infancy, in 1973.

A William E. Ennis Memorial Fund has been established.
