Kathryn V. Young, 87, of Dubuque, formerly of Dunkerton, Iowa, died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Catholic Church, Barclay Township, Iowa. Burial will be in West View Cemetery, LaPorte City, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service, Waterloo, Iowa, where there will be a vigil service at 7 p.m. Friends also may call after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.

She was born on Aug. 16, 1916, in Hazelton, Iowa, daughter of Harry and Hilda (Hillman) Burke. She married Leroy G. Young on Oct. 25, 1941, in Waterloo; he died on Aug. 6, 1986.

Surviving are a son, Richard (Marcia) Young, of Dubuque; a daughter, Eileen McCaslin, of Broken Bow, Neb.; 10 grandchildren, Steven Saunders, Mark Saunders, Bryan (Kim) Saunders, Ellen (Paul) Abney, Jacob (Sharon Crosheck) Young, Emily Young, James Young, Jodi (Tim) Loy, Thomas (Anne) McCaslin and Michael McCaslin; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, James H. Burke, of New York City; and a sister, JoAnn (George) Capell, of Fayette, Iowa.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Saunders.
