James W. "Jim" Collins, 66, of 69 Croydon Crest Drive, entered eternal life on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Raphael's Cathedral. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion, Dubuque Post 6. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Siegert-Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave.

He was born on July 5, 1937, in Grant County, Wis., son of Claire and Mary (O'Flaherty) Collins. He married the former Cecilia Loeffelholz on Nov. 14, 1964, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dickeyville, Wis.

Jim had lived in Dubuque his entire life and graduated from the former St. Columbkille's High School in 1956.

He was a member of St. Raphael's Cathedral and attended the "Breakfast Clutch" at Jorja's Cafe on a daily basis.

He was a great animal lover, especially Casey and Penny. Jim also was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and armchair coach. He was never afraid to tell it like it was because the truth didn't need to be defended.

Surviving are his wife, Cecilia, of Dubuque; a daughter, Kelly (Jeffrey) Pottebaum, of Walford, Iowa; three granddaughters, Catherine, Colleen and Carolyn Pottebaum; a brother, Michael (Maureen) Collins, of Dubuque; a sister, Mary (Jack) O'Hara, of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews.
