Catherine Tigges

Catherine J. Tigges, 92, of Dubuque, and formerly of Sherrill, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, surrounded by her loving family.

Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Sherrill. Rev. Raymond Burkle will officiate. Burial will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 to7:00 p.m. Sunday, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Road, where there will be a prayer service at 3:00 pm.

Catherine was born on March 27, 1920 in Balltown, the daughter of Frank and Catherine (Sigwarth) Link. She married Joseph Tigges on November 25, 1943 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Balltown. He preceded her in death on August 20, 1994.

She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where she was also a member of the Rosary Society. Catherine enjoyed playing cards, shopping, going out to dinner, and taking an occasional trip to the casino. She looked forward to her weekly Saturday night gathering with her friends, watching T.V., drinking wine, and enjoying dessert. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family who feel so blessed to have had her in their lives for so many years. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Luann Pins of Dyersville; her son Terry Tigges of Sherrill; her son in law, Emmett Pins of Luxemburg; her grandchildren, Troy (Heather) Pins of Cedar Rapids, Stacey (Joe) White of Dyersville, Gina Pins of Cedar Rapids, Jared (Amanda) Pins of Cedar Rapids, Mindy (Aaron) Burds of Peosta, Amy Tigges of Cedar Rapids, and Emily Roberts of Cedar Rapids; her great grandchildren, Lydia, Carter, and Mason White, Avery, Adalyn, Juliana, and Shane Pins, and Drew, Ella, Kate, and Cambrie Burds; her sister, Helen Buelow of Dubuque; and her sisters in law, Christine Link and Mary Tigges.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Ivanelle Weiland, Mildred Jaeger, Lucille Auderer, and Marie Bauer; her brothers, Clifford, Alvin, and Francis Link.

Memorials may be made to the Catherine Tigges Memorial Fund.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her friends and neighbors at Windsor Park, and in Sherrill, for their support and friendship over the years.
