Kenneth A. Hense, 67, of 200 Olympic Heights, died at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 2003, at home, of natural causes.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St. Friends may call after noon today at the funeral home, followed by cremation.

Mr. Hense worked for the Dubuque Police Department in the 1960s. He was a truck driver and owned and operated Ken's DX on Dodge Street. He retired from United Armored Services in 1998.

He was born on Aug. 28, 1936, in Dubuque, son of Theodore Hense and Adeline Weimold. He married Kathryn Goedert in 1954. He later married Mary A. Brown on May 23, 1980.

Ken loved his pets and fishing when he had a chance.

Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Mary Hense, of Dubuque; three daughters, Debra Hense of Des Moines, Judy White, of South Carolina and Sue (Gary) Sindt, of Dubuque; a son, Charles (YuMei) Hense, of Marion, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Tina and Eric White, Jennifer and Lindsey Sindt, Tara (Aaron) Metz and Sara and Kevin Hense; two great-grandchildren, Dustin Coffman and Sativa White; and a sister, Janet Arens, of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Walter Hense.

In Lieu of flowers, a Kenneth A. Hense Memorial Fund has been established.
