Mrs. Norbert (Rita M.) Rosemeyer, 84, of Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque, formerly of 750 Montgomery Ave., East Dubuque, Ill., died at 8:55 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003, at Stonehill Care Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary''s Catholic Church, East Dubuque. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home, East Dubuque, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m.

She worked at the Galena Glove & Mitten Factory and later assisted her husband with the operation of his business, the East Dubuque Oil Co.

She was born on June 2, 1919, in Dubuque, the eighth of 10 children and last surviving child of Christian F. and Mary Catherine (Stecher) Koester. She married Norbert F. Rosemeyer on Oct. 30, 1945, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dubuque.

She was a member of St. Mary''s Parish and its Alter and Rosary Society. She was a member of St. Mary''s Prayer Chain Group and visited residents at various nursing homes. She also was a member of the former Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 7976.

Rita was a homemaker. She liked to cook and bake for her family. She enjoyed bowling, playing cribbage, dancing and golf.

Surviving are her husband, Norbert F. Rosemeyer; four daughters, Susan (Bill) Prochaska, of East Dubuque, Ill., Pam (Derek) Eagles, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Teri (Kevin) Whalen, of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Julie (Dick) Jenniges, of Rochester, Minn.; two sons-in-law, Johnnie Kamm, of East Dubuque, Ill., and Thomas Vaughan, of Chicago; eight grandchildren, Scott Prochaska, Tricia DeLire, Rick Kamm, Toni Winter, Kevin Kamm, Nathan, Alicia and Matthew Eagles; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Vicki Ann Vaughan, on Sept. 25, 1998, and Mary Jill Kamm, on July 29, 2001; four sisters, Lillian Hutton, Mary Collins, Kaye Johanningmeier and Josephine Rellihan; and three brothers, Al, Walter and Arnold Koester.

A Rita M. Rosemeyer Memorial Fund has been established.

The Rosemeyer Family wishes to express their gratefulness and would like to thank the doctors and nurses at The Finley Hospital and Hospice of Dubuque as well as the staff and residents at Stonehill Care Center for their kind care and prayers.
