Russell J. Selchert, 76, of 1645 Earl Drive, died at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2003, at Ennoble Manor Care Center.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul''s Lutheran Church, with entombment in St. Joseph''s Chapel Mausoleum at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. Friends also may call after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Mr. Selchert drove busses for Interstate Power for 24 years and later worked in the Power Plant until his retirement in 1999.

He was born on March 3, 1927, in Horicon, Wis., son of William and Louise (Muenchow) Selchert. He married Doris A. Schuler on Aug. 13, 1949, at Nativity Catholic Church.

He was a Navy World War II Veteran. He was a member of the Transit Union, where he served as president, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Russell enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren, "his pride and joy."

Surviving are his wife, Doris; three sons, Steve (Judy) Selchert and John (Chris) Selchert, both of Dubuque, and Robert (Cindy) Selchert, of Aberdeen, Md.; five daughters, Kathleen (Randy) Thor and Marilyn (Don) Steinhoff, both of Cuba City, Wis., Sharon Selchert, of Cassville, Wis., and Jacqueline (Pat) Engling and Carrie (Joe) Mauss, both of Dubuque; a daughter-in-law, Arlene Selchert, of Horicon, Wis.; 21 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; a great-grand daughter; a sister, Virginia Hoefs, of Horicon, Wis.; a brother, Gerald Selchert, of Wichita, Kan.; and two sisters-in-law, Hazel Selchert, of Waukesha, Wis., and Lu Schuler, of Waterloo, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence; a granddaughter, Jodi Metcalf; six brothers, Del, Merlin, Clarence, Gilbert, Raymond and Harold; and a brother-in-law, James Schuler.

Thank-you to Dr. Leeson and his nurse, Cheryl, and to the nurses and staff of Ennoble Manor for all the care and kindness they gave to Russell and his family.
