Robert L. Soltow, 77, of 325 River Ridge, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Soltow worked at Holschers Apothecary for 30 years, then at Ruegnitz Pharmacy and most recently at Mercy CareMor.

He was born on May 4, 1926, in Clinton, Iowa, son of Ervin and Gladys (Isenhart) Soltow. He married Betty Harrington on March 20, 1949, in Lyndon, Ill.

He graduated from Savanna (Ill.) High School and University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, Iowa City.

He served in the Navy during World War II and Korea.

He was president of the Dubuque County Pharmacy Association in the 1950s. He also was a member of the Iowa Pharmacy Association and the Dubuque Area Pharmacy Association. He was recognized by the State of Iowa and Iowa Pharmacy Examiners for 50 years as a licensed pharmacist. He also was a member of the American Legion, Dubuque Post 6.

He enjoyed bowling, golfing and growing flowers.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Harrington, of Dubuque; two sons, Steven Soltow, of Bronxville, N.Y., and Craig (Judy) Soltow, of Dubuque; four grandchildren, Kate Soltow, Christopher, Robin and Steve Kennedy; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Soltow, of Rock Island, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be given to the Dubuque Area Pharmacy Association Scholarship Fund.
