Jean K. Mathis, 83, of Eugene, Ore., formerly of Dubuque, died Friday, Sept. 12, 2003, in Eugene.

Burial will be in Riverside National Cemetery, California. The Major Family Funeral Home, Eugene, is in charge of arrangements.

Surviving are five daughters, Julia Mooney, of Marcala, Ore., Betty Mathis, of Los Angelas, Mary Mathis, of Eugene, Ore., Patty Mathis-Ramos, of San Bernadun, Calif., and Pamela Mathis, of Springfield, Ore.; two sons, F. John Mathis III, of Paradise Valley, Ariz., and James Mathis, of Bena, Nev.; and 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
