DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Anne K. Friedmann, 81, of Dyersville, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dyersville, after a brief illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Luxemburg. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a Catholic Daughters of America/Order of Martha rosary at 4 p.m., the Dyersville Fire Department will gather at 6 p.m., and the parish scripture service will be at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Friedmann worked at Columbus Hospital, Chicago, Riverview Care Center, Guttenberg, and frequently cared for the elderly in the community.

She was born on Sept. 27, 1921, in St. Lucas, daughter of John T. and Anna (Boyer) Franzen.

She married Edward B. Friedmann on Feb. 15, 1944, at St. Luke Church, St. Lucas. Together they farmed in the Waterloo, St. Lucas and Luxemburg areas until retirement in 1979.

She graduated from Aquinas High School in La Crosse, Wis., class of 1939, and earned her nursing diploma at Loyola University, Chicago.

She was a homemaker and was very active as a volunteer both in her parish and her community.

She was a member of the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women, twice assuming the Deanery Presidency. She also was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the Order of Martha and the Resurrection Choir. She volunteered for many years at Oak Crest Manor.

Her favorite hobby was gardening.

Surviving are her husband, Ed, of Dyersville; four sons, Ed, Jr. (Libby), of Redfield, Ken (Linda), of Tucson, Ariz., Stan (Carol), of Guttenberg, and Jeff (Nanci), of Culver City, Calif.; four daughters, Carol Rosauer, of Palm Springs, Calif., Pat (Jim) McCormick, of Dallas Center, Mari (Dave) Vorwald, of Dyersville, and Annette Ray, of Coralville; 15 grandchildren, Robin Kauder, Eric (Darlene) Rosauer, Amy, Sarah and Andrew Friedmann, Keith (Jolene), Karl and Terry Friedmann, Katie and Molly McCormick, Jason and T.J. Vorwald, Jill (Russ) Overton and Roxanne and Adam Friedmann; a step grandson, Anthony Klein; five great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Alexandra Friedmann, Dakota Vorwald, Tristen Overton and Colby Friedmann; five sisters-in-law, Elsie Franzen, Irene Franzen, Margaret Franzen, Ruth Lensing and Jean Friedmann; and a brother-in-law, Alfred Friedmann.

She was preceded in death by four infant siblings, Catherine, Frank, Roman and Alois; six brothers, Baptist "Bob", Joe, Leo, Hugo, Roman "Jim" and John Franzen; two sisters, Mary Franzen and Clara Ehler; and a granddaughter, Monica McCormick

Memorials may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
