David Joseph Nagle, 39, of Plano, Texas, formerly of Dubuque, died peacefully Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at home, after a long illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1755 Delhi St., Dubuque. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Gardens, Freeport, Ill., at a later date. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, provided the information.

Mr. Nagle worked as a cardiovascular nurse for several years. Subsequently, he followed his passion and worked many years as an aerobics instructor and personal trainer in the Houston and Dallas areas.

He graduated with a bachelor of nursing degree from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, in 1989.

He fought his illness valiantly and refused to lose his independence until death. His warmth and charisma brought out a smile in everyone who met him.

Surviving are three brothers, Robert (Teri) Nagle, of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Jeffrey (Kristin Toom) Nagle and Andrew Nagle, both of Dubuque; three stepbrothers, Lynn (Candi) Cordes, of St. Charles, Ill., Tim (Nancy) Cordes, of Batavia, Ill., and Paul Cordes, of Chandler, Ariz.; and nieces and nephews, Barbara, Colin and Michael Cordes.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Nagle; and his grandparents.

Memorials may be given to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1755 Delhi St., Dubuque.
