James E. "Jim" Latham, 59, of Big Meadows Nursing Home, Savanna, Ill., formerly of 2373 Washington St., Dubuque, died at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at the nursing home.

Chapel services will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., Dubuque, where friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today. Following cremation, the cremated remains will be placed in Johannes Chapel at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Dubuque. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Latham worked as a machinist at Klauer Mfg. Co. for more than 20 years.

He was born on May 16, 1944, in Dubuque, son of William E. and Ruth Marie (Jacobs) Latham. He married Judith Ann Rohner on July 16, 1966, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Dubuque.

He served in the National Guard Reserves. He enjoyed bowling and doing yard work. He was a devoted husband, father and brother.

Surviving are his wife, Judith A. Latham; a daughter, Lisa A. Latham, of Dubuque; two sons, Darrin S. Latham, of Fort Collins, Colo., and Adam M. Latham, of Dubuque; four brothers, William (Lee) Latham, Randy Latham and Ray L. Latham, all of Dubuque, and Larry Latham, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association, 1690 Elm St., Dubuque, Iowa 52001 and to Big Meadows Nursing Home, 1000 Longmoor Ave., Savanna, Ill. 61074.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Big Meadows Nursing Home for their care and concern for Jim and the family.
