Agnes Elizabeth Meloy, 88, who resided with her daughter, Ann, at 260 N. Algona St., Dubuque, before moving to Stonehill Care Center, Dubuque, and formerly of Bernard, Iowa, died Saturday morning, Aug. 16, 2003, at the care center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Garryowen, rural Bernard. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., Dubuque, where there will be a wake service at 4:30 p.m.

Mrs. Meloy taught in small country schools, at Nativity School, Dubuque, and for the Western Dubuque Community School District.

She was born on Aug. 25, 1914, in Bernard, daughter of Daniel and Kathryn (English) Lambe. She married Edmund Meloy on Aug. 18, 1943, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, South Garryowen; he preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 1992.

She attended St. Patrick's School, Garryowen, rural Bernard, graduated from Holy Rosary School, La Motte, Iowa, and attended the University of Dubuque.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Parish, rural Bernard, and its Rosary Society.

She enjoyed her card club, which included playing euchre with her six special friends. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

She was a wonderful, caring mother and devoted wife and will be sadly missed by all.

Surviving are three daughters, Karen (Tony) Clemen and Ann Meloy, both of Dubuque, and Grace (Bill) Pins, of Luxemburg, Iowa; two sons, Paul Meloy, of Aurora, Colo., and Bert (Lisa) Meloy, of Bernard; eight grandchildren, Todd, Troy (fiancee, JoAnn Weber) and Trent Clemen, Tara (Kevin) Wysocki, Brad (Cheryl) Pins, Brian (Stephanie) Pins and Jesse and Alison Meloy; two great-grandchildren, Connor and Ellie Grace Pins; and three sisters-in-law, Mary Meloy, Eileen Meloy and Marie Meloy.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Howard and Melvin; a brother, Francis Lambe; and two sisters, Mary Small and Florence McDonnell.

An Agnes Elizabeth Meloy Memorial Fund has been established.

The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to the staff at Stonehill Care Center for the wonderful care extended to our mother while she was there.
