DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Verna M. Willenbring, 74, of Dyersville, died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, after a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with Monsignor Edward Petty officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m., and a Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary rosary at 7 p.m.

She was born on Aug. 24, 1928, in Petersburg, daughter of Richard and Margaret (Woerdehoff) Krapfl. She married Lawrence Willenbring on Sept. 29, 1947, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville.

She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and loved gardening, playing cards and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her husband, Lawrence; three daughters, Marjean Rausch and Diane (Glenn) Lichti, both of Dubuque, and Karen (Bruce) Knipper, of Delhi; two sons, Steve (Marge) Willenbring and Mark (Marilyn) Willenbring, both of Dyersville; her grandchildren, Cherie Willenbring, Lisa (Brian) Johnson, Jenny (Jayme) Wulfekuhle, Scott, Rick and Terry Rausch, Matt, Josh and Bethany Lichti and Eric and Travis Knipper; a step grandson, Corey Coleman; four great-grandchildren; and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Art Westmark, Albert Willenbring, Leona Willenbring and Clarence and Adella Lahr.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Chad Knipper; a son-in-law, Patrick Rausch; and two sisters, Valerie Mensen and Wilma Westmark.

A Verna Willenbring Memorial Fund has been established.
