Esther Marie Murray, 83, of Stonehill Care Center, died Friday, July 11, 2003, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke's United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Mrs. Murray worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation prior to having children.

She was born on Aug. 1, 1919, in Greenwood, Ind., daughter of Ralph and Dessie (Ross) Lyons. She married W. Paul Murray in Washington, D.C.; he passed away in 1979.

She had been in Dubuque since 1965, after living in many different cities and states. She enjoyed boating, golf and bridge.

Esther had been a member of the Sunshine Circle at The Finley Hospital, the Visiting Nurses Association and the Mount Pleasant Board. She was a longtime member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, the Church Circle at St. Luke's and PEO Chapter IK.

Esther lived life to its fullest and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving are her daughters, Beth Ann (Mike) Fleming and Paula (Phillip) Hopkins; grandchildren, Richard "Rick," Jennifer, Michelle and Lisa Fleming and Paul Hopkins, all of Dubuque; a great-grandchild, Jacob; two brothers and a sister, Hank (Faye) Lyons and Robert Lyons, both of Indianapolis, and Martha Reese, of Franklin, Ind.; and a brother-in-law, Gus Botschellar.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Elmer Lyons; and a sister, Bernice Botschellar.

Memorials may be made to the Sunshine Circle at The Finley Hospital, St. Luke's United Methodist Church and to the Alzheimer's Association.
