DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Mrs. Florence E. Toebber, 96, of Dyersville, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dyersville, after a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Ed Petty officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be the Order of Martha and Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary at 4 p.m., and the parish scripture service at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Toebber was a homemaker and a clerk at the Harrison Store in Dyersville, for many years.

She was born on Sept. 6, 1906, in Dyersville, daughter of Henry A. and Mary (Benn) Fangman. She married William F. Toebber on Sept. 8, 1947, in Dyersville; he preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 1963.

She loved playing cards and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas for 69 years, the Order of Martha, Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and Dyersville Senior Citizens.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Carol (Lou) Peterhans, of Batavia, Ill.; four granddaughters, Megan (fianc, Brian Mulherin), of Elmhurst, Ill., and Emily, Katie and Sarah, all of Batavia; a sister, Geraldine O'Connell, of Mesa, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, William, Frank, Alfred, Charles and Clarence Fangman; and a sister, Stacia Bergfeld.

Memorials are preferred and will be given to Beckman High School and St. Francis Xavier Basilica.
