Lorraine A. Schlueter, 84, of Luther Manor, formerly of Phoenix, Ariz., died Friday, July 11, 2003, at Luther Manor.

Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, Dubuque, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Dec. 15, 1918, in Rochester, N.Y., daughter of Joseph and Margaretta (Devine) West.

She married Hank Schlueter on Aug. 19, 1943, in Gainesville, Texas. They spent the majority of their 59 years together in Phoenix where Lorraine was a housing director in the mayor's office.

She was an avid bridge player and a longtime member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Phoenix.

Surviving are her husband, Hank Schlueter, of Dubuque; a daughter, Mary (Tim) O'Brien, of Dubuque; two grandsons, Colin and Justin O'Brien, both of Dubuque; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.
