Mrs. Evelyn Heiar, 84, 1913 Central Ave., died Saturday evening, April 27, 1996, at The Finley Hospital.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 7:30 p.m.

Mrs. Heiar was employed at the former Dubuque Packing Co. for many years.

She was born on Nov. 3, 1911, in rural Fort Dodge, Iowa, daughter of Francis and Clara (Miller) Scott. She married Alphonse Heiar; he died on May 21, 1963.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She had a special love for pets.

Surviving are three sons, Donald Heiar, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Benjamin (Patricia) Heiar and Robert (Nancy) Heiar, both of Dubuque; two daughters, Mrs. Rosemary (Russ) Arlington, of Dallas, Texas, and Mrs. Marie Manders, of Dubuque; 12 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Jean Anderson and Gladys Billings, both of Fort Dodge, Helen Rank, of Cedar Rapids, and Violet (Sheden) Helm, of Ottumwa, Iowa.

An Evelyn Heiar Memorial Fund has been established.
