Deceased Name: MARCELLA M. RETTENMEIERServices for Mrs. Herbert (Marcella M.) Rettenmeier, 81, of the Dubuque Nursing and Rehab Center, formerly of 549 Balltown Road, Balltown, Iowa, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Balltown.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be parish wake service at 4:30 p.m.
She was born on Jan. 23, 1916, in Balltown, daughter of John and Magdalena (Koltes) Gansemer. She died at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 1997, at the center.
She married Herbert J. Rettenmeier on Oct. 4, 1938, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Balltown; he passed away on Oct. 10, 1967.
She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Balltown, and its rosary society. She also was a member of the Mercy Silver Advantage Club. She enjoyed quilting and playing Euchre.
Surviving are two daughters, Dorine M. (Carlton "Butch") Mauer, and Linda L. (Mike) Kelley, both of Dubuque; three sons, Ronald H. (Donna) Rettenmeier, and Robert A. (Eileen) Rettenmeier, both of Dubuque, and Wilmer L. "Bill" (Bev) Rettenmeier, of Balltown; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Leander (Florence) Klein, of Balltown.
She also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tina Rettenmeier; two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Ida) Oberfoell and Mrs. Alfred (Viola) Ritt; and three brothers, Alfred, Arnold and Clarence Gansemer.
A Marcella M. Rettenmeier Memorial Fund has been established.
