Genevieve T. Wold Grutz

Genevieve T. Wold Grutz, 82, of 3850 Cora Drive, died at 5:35 a.m. Friday, July 4, 2003, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Siegert-Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque.

Genevieve was a sales clerk with the former Walsh Stores for 18 years.

She was born on June 16, 1921, in Hillsboro, Wis., daughter of Lorenzo and Christine (Southwick) Mitchell.

She married Richard B. Wold on May 28, 1939, in Hillsboro. The two were married for 37 years, until Richard's death on May 3, 1976. She then married her second husband, Eldon Grutz, on Dec. 29, 1979. They were married for 22 years, until his death in 2001. Genevieve was a devoted mother to two families.

Surviving are her children, Coralynn (Ed) Palmer, of Houston, and their children, Rick Manley, Amy Christman, and Allyson and Jonathan Palmer; Richard (Karen) Wold, of Durango, Iowa, and their children, Kim Chapman, and Randy and Jason Wold; Karen (David) Krambeck, of Earlville, Iowa, and their son, David C. Krambeck; Deb (Greg) Pekas, of Roscoe, Ill., and their children, Brian, Jeremy and Kyle Pekas; her stepchildren, Jack (Sally) Grutz, Jerry (Cathy) Grutz, Jay (Sherry) Grutz, Julie Grutz, Jan Grutz, Jeff (Andrea) Grutz and Jill (Johnnie) Parker; and 11 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and 12 step grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; her twin sibling, who passed away at birth; and a grandson, Steven A. Krambeck.

A Genevieve Wold Grutz Memorial Fund has been established.

The Wold-Grutz family wish to extend a special thank-you to David Krambeck for his loving care and to the many special friends and family for their wonderful support.
