Myron J. Armbruster Sr.

Myron J. "Jack" Armbruster Sr., 75, of 2270 Francis St., died at 1:13 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, of natural causes.

Services will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where friends may call after 2 p.m. Following cremation, burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.

He was born on Oct. 2, 1935, in Dubuque, son of Louis and Bertha (Miller) Armbruster Sr.

Jack worked many jobs throughout his life. He was a very hard-working man. He worked for Sharkey Building and Wrecking Co., BFI and the Chicago Northwestern Railroad.

Jack enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing in euchre tournaments and camping with his family. He also enjoyed going on long Sunday drives just to have lunch in another town.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Sharon Armbruster, of Dubuque; eight daughters, Ruth (Mike) Mount, of Lathrop, Calif., Joan (Jim) Wehrspann, Gale Armbruster, Betty (Bill) Clark, Mary Armbruster, Corine Armbruster and June (Caroll) Gibson, all Dubuque, and Connie (Dick) Howell, of Espanola, N.M.; two sons, Clarence (Melissa) Armbruster and Myron R. (Linette) Armbruster, both of Dubuque; two sisters, June Hallahan and Bonnie Vosberg, both of Dubuque; a brother, Louis Armbruster, of Mesa, Ariz.; three sisters-in-law, Joyce Terris, Pat Wernimont and Cindy Key, all of Dubuque; two brothers-in-law, Jim Tuthill and Rich Tuthill, both of Dubuque; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Bertha; a daughter, June, in infancy; two sons, Brian in infancy and Myron John Armbruster Jr.; and his mother-in-law, June Tuthill.

A Myron J. Armbruster Memorial Fund has been established.

The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Leeson and his staff and the nurses and staff at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.
