Harold H. Hedrick, 84, of 10000 Shawondassee Lane, died at 12:35 p.m., Sunday, June 29, 2003, at home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Mueller Memorial Chapel at Linwood Cemetery. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road.

Mr. Hedrick worked at Interstate Power Co. for nearly 40 years, and was a member of the IBEW Local 204.

He was born on Nov. 23, 1918, in Dubuque, son of Allen G. and Frieda (Schwanebeck) Hedrick. He married Rita Schroeder on Nov. 22, 1947, at Nativity Catholic Church.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was recipient of the Izaak Walton League Conservationist of the Year award in 1977. On Nov. 2, 1975, he was recognized by the Dubuque County Conservation Society for his many years of service to conservation. Harold remained on the board until his death. In addition, he had been a member of the Dubuque Boat Club, founding member of the Dubuque Water Ski Club, Trees for Dubuque, and was a retired member of the board for the Interstate Power Company Employees Credit Union.

Surviving are his wife, Rita; three children, Allen (Dianna) Hedrick, of Larkspur, Colo., Donald (Leah) Hedrick, of Marietta, Ga., and Nancy (Tom) Winne, of Mesa, Colo.; five grandchildren, Lisa, Brian, Jason, Jessica and Justin; two great-grandchildren, Daniel and Holly; and two sisters, Edna Marietta and Alice Hafeman, both of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Hedrick.

In lieu of flowers, a Harold H. Hedrick Memorial Fund has been established. The family would like to thank all the friends, neighbors and Hospice of Dubuque for the care and comfort they showed to Harold and Rita.
