Services for Sylvester J. "Syl" Beversdorf, 68, of 2006 Kniest St., will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the DeWachter-Haudensheild Funeral Home, 2170 Central Ave. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Beversdorf, formerly of Bellevue, Iowa, Iowa died at 6 a.m. Tuesday at his residence. He was born in Dubuque and had been employed at the Dubuque casket Co. for many years prior to his retirement.

Surviving are his wife, the former Jennie Lightfoot; a daughter, Mrs. Byron (Donna) Bolsinger of Dubuque; three sons, Harry, Paul and Tom, all of Dubuque; eight grandchildren and five great- grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Joan Beversdorf of West Palm Beach, Fla; two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Joan) Calloway of Fayetteville, Ark., and Mrs. John (Orsie) Kopnak of West Palm Beach, and two brothers, Charles of Dubuque and Francis of Phoenix, Ariz.

A Sylvester J. Beversdorf Memorial Fund has been established.
