Lela M. Feipel Tigges

Lela M. Feipel Tigges, 93, of 1725 Wood St., went home to be with the Lord at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2011, at Luther Manor.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 8, at Summit United Congregational Church of Christ, 2885 Kennedy Road. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. To celebrate Lela's life, friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.

She was born on Feb. 24, 1918, in Dubuque, daughter of Walter and Mabel (Licht) Close. She married Arthur C. Tigges on June 3, 1961, at Grandview Methodist Church.

Lela was a full-time wife and mother.

She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary.

Lela enjoyed raising canaries, finches and goldfish. She also liked music and dancing, fishing, collecting dolls and angels. One of her favorite ways to spend time was with her dog, "Dolly."

Surviving are her husband, Arthur C. Tigges, of Dubuque; a daughter, Barbara (Roger) Schueller, of Sherrill, Iowa; two sons, Richard (Pat) Feipel and David (Doris) Feipel, both of Dubuque; a son-in-law, Ed Kieffer, of Asbury, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Donald Feipel, in March 1960; a daughter, Beverly Kieffer; two sisters, Margaret (Ervin) Renz and Deloris (Herbert) Zimmerman; and a brother, Francis (Evelyn) Close.

A Lela M. Tigges Memorial Fund has been established.
