Kenneth F. Klein

Telegraph Herald - Thursday, June 19, 2003
Kenneth Francis Klein, 73, of Sacramento, Calif., formerly of Dubuque, passed away peacefully Friday, June 13, 2003, at home.

Services were held in California.

He was born on Oct. 16, 1929, in Dubuque. He was raised in Dubuque by Frank and Anna Klein, leaving to proudly serve in the Air Force during the Korean War. After his service he earned his undergraduate degree in business at the University Southern California and his MPA at Sacramento State University.

Ken's greatest loves were God, family and teaching. If one happened to bring up the topic of trains, he was keenly interested as well, having worked on the railroads in his youth.

Ken dearly loved his true vocation of teaching. He worked at the various state agencies in Sacramento, and retired in 1992 after 25 years of teaching at the Department of Food and Agriculture. However, his passion was so strong, he continued to teach at the State Training Center up until late last summer. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Lynne; six children, Brian, Karen, Melissa, Geoff, Gregg and George; nine grandchildren; and a brother, William Klein. Ken also had five godchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Philomene's Catholic Church in Sacramento.
