David Melvin Wolf, 57, of Diamond Bar, Calif., formerly of Dubuque, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, in Orange County, Calif., as the result of a heart attack.

Services were held at Neels Brea Mortuary, Brea, Calif. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque.

Mr. Wolf worked at John Deere Dubuque Works for 30 years. He started as a heavy equipment test driver in the experimental division and worked his way to mechanic, then an inspector and finally a lead on engine line prior to retirement.

He was born on July 17, 1945, in Dubuque, son of Alphonse Charles and Genevieve Florence (Zamonick) Wolf. He married Carolyn K. Wagner on May 1, 1965, at The Little Brown Church in the Vail, Nashua, Iowa.

He attended Dubuque Senior High School and then obtained his General Education Degree. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Platteville for one year in communications. He also attended Loras College for 11/2 years for business management.

He served in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict as a Specialist 4th Class.

He was a member and deacon of Word of Life Church. He also was a member of the American Legion and many bowling leagues, all in Dubuque.

He was very active in producing and directing various community access programs for TCI Cable including the "Rich Years," "Free Speech Alley" and "The Layman's Voice of the Tri-States."

In his free time, he enjoyed model airplanes and trains. He loved fishing, bowling motorcycling and traveling.

Surviving are a daughter, Amy Suzette (Wolf) Schmitt, of Walford, Iowa; a son, Timothy David Wolf, of Sacramento, Calif.; two brothers, James and Robert Wolf, both of Dubuque; a sister, Marilyn (Wolf) Kaesbauer, of Dubuque; a grandson, Adam Michael Wolf, of Sacramento; and his former wife, Carolyn K. (Wagner) Randall.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Arlene (Wolf) Brewer; his mother, Genevieve Florence (Zamonick) Wolf; and his father, Alphonse Charles Wolf.

Thank-you to all those who have kept Amy and Tim in prayer. Your thoughts, concerns, condolences and prayers have given us the strength to move on.
