Kathleen F. "Kay" Welchert, 80, of Sunnycrest Manor, formerly of 1665 Atlantic St., died at 6 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Raphael's Cathedral. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Siegert-Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave.

Kay worked at Midwest Lumber Co., Weber Paper Co., American Trust and Savings Bank and the Canfield Hotel.

She was born on Jan. 30, 1923, in Dubuque, daughter of Gregory F. and Emma K. (Klostermann) Welchert.

Kay lived for many years at 1665 Atlantic St. in Dubuque. She received her education at St. Anthony's grade school and the former St. Joseph's Academy High School.

She was a member of the alumni at the academy. Kay also was a member of St. Raphael's Cathedral.

She had many friends whom she loved dearly. Kay was very devoted to her father and dearly loved her mother, who she took care of for many years.

She also was a talented seamstress and loved to crochet and read.

Surviving are an uncle, Ray (Irene) Klostermann, of Dubuque; three aunts, Marcella Klostermann, of Dyersville, Iowa, Clarinda Klostermann, of Manchester, Iowa, and Hilda Klostermann, of Vinton, Iowa; and numerous cousins.

A Kathleen Welchert Memorial Fund has been established.

Kay's family would like to thank the staff at Sunnycrest Manor; her special cousins, Merlin (Mary) Osterhaus, of Holy Cross, Iowa, Roger (Lois) Klostermann, of Dyersville, and Art (Paula) Roling, of Dubuque; and her two special friends, Faye Finnegan and Florence Powers, both of Dubuque, for all their loving care.
