James P. Woodhouse

James P. Woodhouse, 51, of Tampa, Fla., formerly of Dubuque, died at 10 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2003, in Tampa, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Raphael's Cathedral, Dubuque. Burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Dubuque. The family will receive friends and family after the service in the Community Room at St. Raphael's Cathedral. Information was provided by Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., Dubuque.

Mr. Woodhouse worked as a welder for a marine construction company in Florida.

He was born on June 8, 1951, in Dubuque, son of George, Sr. and Rose Mary (Henkels) Woodhouse. Jim was a 1969 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School.

Jim enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a great swimmer and liked being outdoors. Jim had fun giving to others and always found the most unique gifts. He had a wonderful memory and was a great storyteller.

Surviving are a daughter, Sarah Woodhouse, and two sons, James Woodhouse and Derek Woodhouse, all of Baltimore; his mother, Rose Mary Woodhouse, of Dubuque; two sisters, Mary (Ivan) Even, of Davenport, Iowa, and Polly Smith, of Eldridge, Iowa; three brothers, Tom (Wendy) Woodhouse, of Dubuque, and Bill (Julie) Woodhouse and Dave Woodhouse, both of Des Moines; a special friend, Bea Kayian, of Tampa; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Woodhouse, Sr., in 1990; and a brother, George Woodhouse, Jr., in 1999.

A James P. Woodhouse Memorial Fund has been established.
