CASCADE, Iowa - Mary M. "Mag" Menster, 84, of 401 Second Ave. N.W., Cascade, died at 9:05 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at Shady Rest Care Center, in Cascade.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Cascade, with Monsignor Albert Manternach, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cascade. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Cascade, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m.

She was born on March 12, 1919, in Cascade, daughter of Nicholas and Louise (Streusser) Cigrand. She married Francis Menster on April 16, 1944, in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

She graduated from the former St. Mary's High School, Cascade. Mary was employed as a cook in the lunch program at the former St. Mary's School in Cascade. She was a member of St. Matthias Parish, Cascade, Shady Rest Auxiliary, and the Cascade Senior Citizens. She also was a former member of the Cascade American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are two daughters, Sue Bickel, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Renee Menster, of Cascade; three grandchildren, Brian (Shelly) Gehl, Doug Gehl and Eric Gehl; two stepgrandchildren, Chris Bickel and Johnathon Bickel; two great-grandchildren, Megan and Justin Gehl; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Katie and Nathan Bickel; three sisters, Jean Ann Cigrand and Marion Cigrand, both of Cascade, and Rita (Roy) Livengood, of Salina, Kan.; and a brother, Dick (Karen) Cigrand, of Monticello.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis Menster, on May 27, 1960; three sisters, Mildred Otting, Lavern Grogan and Lou Mae Klein; and four brothers, Arnold, Carl, Jim and the Rev. Nicholas Cigrand Jr.

A Mary M. Menster Memorial Fund has been established.

The family would like to thank the staffs at Shady Rest Care Center and Hospice of Dubuque for all the wonderful care they gave Mary.
