BERNARD, Iowa - Steven Bradley, 41, of 322 McCarthy Road, died Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Garryowen, rural Bernard, with the Rev. Thomas Bisenius, officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where there will be a family prayer service at 1:45 p.m.

He was born Sept. 17, 1961, in Dubuque, son of Richard M. and Mary Lou (Schubert) Bradley. He married Margie Decker on Oct. 18, 1986, at St. Patrick's Parish, Garryowen.

He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1980. He worked for White Front Feed for many years and worked for Webber Metal in Cascade for the last 15 years.

He was a member of Bernard Fire and Rescue, where he served as assistant chief. He was a very active member of St. Patrick's Parish, Garryowen, and served in many areas including being past president of the parish council.

Steve was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching and going to the races. He was a great husband, father, son and brother and gave freely of his time and talents to many causes.

Among those who will cherish his memory are his wife, Margie, and their children, Bridget, Rebecca and Benjamin; his parents, Richard and Mary Lou Bradley, of Dubuque; brothers, Dennis (Tina) Bradley and Joe (Julie) Bradley, both of Dubuque; and a sister, Cheryl (Tim) Martens, of Dubuque; sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Gary) Hancock, Debi O'Brien and Carol (David) Shanahan; brothers-in-law, Larry (Lynn) Decker and Jay (Marlene) Decker; many nieces and nephews.

A Steven Bradley Memorial Fund has been established.

Thank-you to neighbor and friend, Lisa Melloy, to the Bernard Fire and Rescue Department and the Mercy Medical Center Emergency Department for the care and kindness they showed to Steve and his family.
