Albert L. Loewen, 47 of Dubuque, Iowa died Thursday, March 2, 1989 at Mercy Health Center Jt. Joseph's Unit. Funeral services were held Monday, March 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Ghost Church in Dubuque. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 6 of Dubuque. Behr Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He was born January 29, 1942 in Dubuque to Leo and Florence (Matous) Loewen. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He married Marilyn Bakewell June 29, 1974 in Dubuque. At the time of his death, he worked at FDL Foods, Inc., and formerly at Flexsteel industries.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society, Knights of Columbus and Tri-State Garden Club. He was a former board member of St. Mary's Credit Union and served on St. Mary's Parish Council and Metropolitan Board of Wahlert High School.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter Jennifer, two sons, Steven and Michael, all at home, his mother, also of Dubuque and mother-in-law Veronica Bakewell of Waukon, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his father who died October 15, 1962.
