DYERSVILLE, Iowa -- Leora S. Willenbring, 89, of Ellen Kennedy Living Center, Dyersville, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Dennis Quint officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4:30 p.m.

She was born on April 15, 1921, in New Vienna, daughter of William and Josephine (Hoefer) Meis.

She graduated from the Iowa State Teachers College and started teaching in the country school system until she met and married Lester Willenbring on Sept. 21, 1948, in New Vienna. Together they farmed west of Dyersville until retirement. They enjoyed going out for dinner and parties. He preceded her in death.

Surviving are her sister, Jeanette (Elmer) Hilkin, of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Florence Meis, of Dyersville; and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Joseph Meis; a sister, Helen, in infancy; brothers and sisters-in-law, Emery and Flavia Willenbring and Ambrose and Jeanette Weber.
