Margaret L. Kifer "Betty" Kifer, 82, of Dubuque Nursing & Rehab Center, died Saturday, July 9, 2005, at the center.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Zwingle, Iowa. The Egelhof, Siegert-Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, Dubuque, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born on Aug. 17, 1922, in Dubuque, daughter of Clarence and Irene (Dunwoody) Harkey. Betty resided in the Dubuque area all her life.

She married John Kifer on Nov. 26, 1953; he preceded her in death.

Betty was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church and later became a member of Zwingle Harmony Church.

Surviving are her son, John (Devona) Harkey, of Wilmington, N. C.; and three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two special friends, Millie Whitt and Delores Reisdorf, both of Dubuque; and her special family at Dubuque Nursing & Rehab Center.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and LeRoy Harkey; and a sister, Lillian Cole.
