Willis C. Laugesen

Services for Willis C. Laugesen, 74, of the Veterans Hospital, Knoxville, Iowa, formerly of 1304 Rhomberg Ave., will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Entombment will be in Resurrection Garden Mausoleum at Mount Calvary Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by American Legion Dubuque Post No. 6. Friends may call until 9 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 4:30 p.m.

Mr. Laugesen worked at the former Dubuque Packing Co. until his retirement.

He was born on May 28, 1918, in Burton, Wis., son of Gordon and Grace (Hurst) Laugesen. He died at 1:45 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 1993, at the Veterans Hospital, Knoxville.

He married Margaret E. Hochhausen on Nov. 6, 1945, in Cassville, Wis.; she survives.

He was a World War II veteran, having served with the 1st Armored Division of the 6th Armored Infantry. He served under General Patton in French North Africa and was a recipient of the Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars and the Oak Leaf Cluster. He was disabled by a service-incurred disability. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans; a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church; and a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Dubuque Post 6.

Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Mary Ann) Konrardy, of Dubuque; five sons, Daniel J. (and Debra), Michael R. (and Nancy), William J. (and Sandy), and Gary E., all of Dubuque, and Mark W. (and Julie), of East Dubuque, IL.; 10 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Lois) Wood, of Cassville, and Miss Lucille Laugesen, of Redfeathers, Colo.; and four brothers, Loraine (and Opal), and Dale, both of Dubuque, Lawrence (and Eileen), of Lancaster, Wis., and Eugene (and Carol), of East Dubuque.
