Patricia M. Stoffel, 80, of 10328 Shane Court, died at 10:20 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fillmore, with the Rev. Dennis Colter officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where there will be a scripture wake service at 4:30 p.m., with the Rev. Donald Bakewell presiding, and a Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary at 7 p.m.

She was born on March 17, 1923, in Farley, Iowa, daughter of Clarence and Mary (Konzen) Schemmel.

She married Francis Stoffel on Sept. 30, 1948, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley. Together they farmed in the Bernard and Cascade areas until they retired in 1992 and moved to Dubuque.

She grew up in the Farley area and attended and graduated from St. Joseph's High School. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fillmore, since 1954, the Power of Prayer, St. Francis Affiliates, Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 1287 and the Sacred Heart Rosary Society. She did volunteer work and Mercy Hospital and St. Joseph's School, Key West, Iowa.

She loved her family and grandchildren, gardening, her friends, cooking and playing cards. She touched many people in her lifetime.

Surviving are her husband, Francis; five children, Robert (Joyce) Stoffel and Randy (Rose) Stoffel, both of Bernard, Richard (Julie) Stoffel, of Dubuque, Larry Joe (Karen) Stoffel, of Peosta and Mary Jo (Mark) Cannon, of Dubuque; her grandchildren, Dana, Marty, Andrea, Jennifer, Jessica, Jeanna, Patrick, Kristina, Brian, Ashley, Nicole, Ryan, Doug, Brandon and Craig; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Gus (Kay) Thier, of Dyersville.

A Patricia M. Stoffel Memorial Fund has been established.

A special thank-you to the Mercy Hospital staff of the ICU Unit, Three West Unit and Skilled Nursing and to Dr. Kukla and Dr. Leeson for the care and kindness they gave to Patricia and her family.
