Bernice C. Holz, 93, of Southwest Health Care Center, Cuba City, Wis., formerly of Dubuque, died at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2003, at the care center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Nativity Catholic Church, 1225 Alta Vista St., Dubuque, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. The Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., Dubuque, is in charge of arrangements.

She was employed during World War II at the Savanna (Ill.) Ordnance Depot. Later, she worked at the Kroger Grocery Store in the deli and then at Morrison Bros. in the office until her retirement.

She was born on Oct. 12, 1909, in Dubuque, daughter of Harry and Luella (Acker) Holz. She was a graduate of the former Visitation Academy.

Bea was a member of Nativity Catholic Church Parish. She liked to travel, take short road trips and was an avid reader.

Surviving are a sister, Coletta E. Schumacher, of Dubuque; a niece, Sandra J. Saul, of Dubuque; two nephews, George A. (Stacy) Schumacher, of Gelendale, Calif., and Dale R. (Vickie) Schumacher, of Santa Maria, Calif.; and eight great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, George B. Schumacher.

Memorials may be given to Southwest Health Care Center, 808 S. Washington St., Cuba City, Wis., 53807.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Southwest Health Care Center for their care and concern for Bea.
