Sister Lumena Schulte, OSF, 85, of Mount St. Francis, died Tuesday morning, April 29, 2003, at Mount St. Francis.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mount St. Francis Chapel, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7:30 p.m. today at the chapel, where there will be a wake service at 7:30 p.m. The Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., is in charge of arrangements.

Sister Lumena ministered as a homemaker in the Iowa cities of Remsen, Bancroft, Granville, Waterloo (St. Mary), Dubuque (Xavier Hospital, Mary of the Angels, Mount St. Francis, Immaculate Conception Convent), and in Midlothian, Ill.

She was born on Jan. 24, 1918, in Norway, Iowa, daughter of John and Dorothea (Frese) Schulte.

She entered the Sisters of St. Francis on Aug. 25, 1945, and made her final profession of religious vows on Aug. 12, 1948.

Surviving are four sisters, Lorene (Orville) Blankman, Margaret Hansen, Marjorie (Leonard) Jansa and Barbara (Regis) Arp; a brother, Glen (Dorothy); sisters-in-law, Sylvia Schulte, Violet Schulte and Barbara Schulte; and the Franciscan Sisters with whom she shared 55 years of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George, Bernard, Herbert and Ray; a sister, Marcella (Evard) Montague; and a brother-in-law, Alfred Hansen.

Memorials may be given to the Sisters of St. Francis.
