Brother Joseph

JOSEPH

Died on the 10th inst., at St. Joseph's Dubuque county, Brother Joseph, in the forty second year of his age.

The deceased consecrated himself to God about eight years ago and in company with a few more devoted men, practiced the rules of a religious life, under the direction of the Very Rev. T. J. Donoghoe, at St. Joseph's Prairie. It is only his religious companions and intimate acquaintances that can speak of him as he deserves, but even those whose intercourse with him was only occasional, could not but be struck by his christian simplicity of manner, his mildness of temper, his humility of demeanor, his benignity of disposition in his relations and intercourse with his fellow men. The community of which he was a member and the neighbors among whom he resided feel his decease with that poignant sorrow which can only be experienced on the death of a good man. The Catholic Church, of which he was a member, asks her children to pray for his Soul; for pure and holy in the sight of mortals though he may have been, he may not be without stain in the sight of the Holy one.
